BTEC Level 1 in Teamwork and Personal Skills for Uniformed Youth Organisations

What is it and what will I learn?

This BTEC qualification is for learners who belong to a uniformed youth organisation and want to develop their teamwork and personal skills. It will provide them with an introduction to vocational learning while at the same time achieving a qualification that maps their uniformed youth organisation experience.

It is recognised by colleges and employers and is designed to help learners aged 13 to 16 boost the key skills and knowledge they need to succeed before embarking on their GCSE’s.

  • Learners can expect to study units including:

    • Working as a volunteer
    • Navigating using map and compass
    • Working as part of a team
    • Self-reliance in a fieldcraft environment

  • Much of this qualification can be mapped to training that the learner has already taken part in within their uniformed youth organisation. In some cases, 100% of the course can be achieved in this way with no workbook to complete.

  • The length of time needed to complete this course will depend on our delivery partner running the course. It will also depend on the learner and how much recognised prior learning they have. We recommend that our learners belong to a uniformed youth organisation for a minimum of 12 months before enrolling on the qualification.

  • Learners will be supported by our delivery partner together with our Teaching and Learning team at Cadet Vocational College.
