Cadet Vocational College joins the Department for Education’s Service of Remembrance

On Tuesday 11 November, representatives from Cadet Vocational College were honoured to attend the annual Service of Remembrance at the Department for Education in London.

The College was represented by The Rt Hon The Lord Lingfield, Chair of Trustees; Chief Executive Guy Horridge; Deputy Chief Executive Michèle Parry; and Head of Business Development Richard Allen. They were accompanied by two of this year’s Westminster Award finalists, attending as CV College Ambassadors PPO Ben Wesson from Thurrock Sea Cadets and Cadet Esme Dickson from St John Ambulance.

During the service, Lord Lingfield, Guy Horridge, and the two cadets laid wreaths at the memorial within the Department, which honours members of the staff of the Board of Education who lost their lives in the Great War of 1914–1918. A two-minute silence followed, observed by all those present, offering a moment of quiet reflection and gratitude for the sacrifices made by so many.

Following the service, the CV College team met with Ministers and senior officials from the Department for Education. The occasion provided an opportunity to share in remembrance, but also to reflect on the importance of service, leadership, and community values that lie at the heart of both the Cadet Vocational College and the wider education sector.

Cadet Vocational College is proud to have taken part in this meaningful act of remembrance, standing alongside colleagues and cadets to honour those who gave their lives for our freedom.
